Empresa Gerencial de Projetos Navais (Emgepron) has taken another step toward modernizing Brazil's shipbuilding industry by opening a quotation request for works at the Rio de Janeiro Naval Arsenal (AMRJ). The initiative aims to prepare the infrastructure for the future construction of ocean patrol ships with a capacity of up to 1,800 tons.
The notice contemplates interventions in slipways and facilities of the naval complex, considered fundamental to adapt the space to the technical requirements of larger vessels. The measure is part of a strategic planning that precedes a broader tender, scheduled to be launched in the future, aimed at the construction of these ships.
Companies interested in participating in the process must submit their proposals by April 17. The quotation request functions as a preliminary stage, allowing Emgepron to evaluate costs, technical solutions, and market interest before the official opening of the competition.
The modernization of AMRJ is seen as an important move for strengthening the productive capacity of the military shipbuilding industry in Brazil. With more adequate facilities, the country expands its conditions to develop strategic vessels, aimed at both defense and the protection of maritime areas under national jurisdiction.
Ocean patrol ships play a fundamental role in monitoring the so-called "Blue Amazon," operating in surveillance missions, combating illicit activities, and safeguarding natural resources. In this context, investment in naval infrastructure reinforces not only the industry, but also Brazilian maritime sovereignty.
Furthermore, the initiative tends to generate positive effects in the supply chain, stimulating suppliers, shipyards, and specialized service providers, with potential impact on job generation and technological development of the sector.
