A report published by Estadão revealed that J&F and JBS, controlled by brothers Joesley Batista and Wesley Batista, made transfers totaling R$ 11.5 million to a law office in Goiânia, whose declared monthly movement was approximately R$ 9 thousand.

According to a document from the Financial Activities Control Council (Coaf), the transfers occurred in December 2023, with R$ 8 million paid by JBS on the 15th and R$ 3.5 million by J&F on the 18th.

The law office belongs to attorney Maísa de Maio Marciano, registered in a shared office space in the South Sector of Goiânia. The report notes that no documents were presented to justify the transactions, classifying the movement as "high risk for money laundering".

Another point that caught Coaf's attention was that on the same day as one of the receipts, part of the funds was transferred to third parties. In one of the operations, there was a transfer of R$ 3.5 million to attorney and businessman Paulo Humberto Barbosa.

In a statement, the companies stated that the amounts paid correspond to legal services rendered and documented, with invoicing and payment of applicable taxes, but did not detail which services were contracted.

The case gains repercussion for involving one of the country's largest business groups and for occurring amid other financial movements already observed in recent investigations related to the group.
