In a significant milestone for the development of Alagoas port infrastructure, the Minister of Ports and Airports, Tomé Franca, signed on Tuesday (31st) the lease contract for the Maritime Passenger Terminal (TMP) at the Port of Maceió. The act formalizes the partnership with the Britto-Macelog Consortium, winner of the auction held in October 2025, and promises to strengthen the capacity to receive tourists and the economic movement of the capital of Alagoas.
The contract, with a term of 25 years, provides for an initial investment of R$ 3.75 million (Capex) to be directed toward the modernization and expansion of the terminal facilities. The total area of the project encompasses 5,678.23 m², with exclusive focus on passenger movement, and has the capacity to serve up to 612 passengers per day.
Initial investments will be in the implementation of a better-structured parking lot, which will be built on an area of 3,050 m², fully paved and will receive a more efficient drainage system. Altogether, 112 parking spaces will be made available.
Furthermore, the concessionaire will be responsible for the acquisition of new furnishings such as chairs, tables and sofas for the lobby and the mezzanine, as well as state-of-the-art equipment for passenger and baggage control, ensuring comfort and safety for users. The contract also covers reversible assets of the port authority, such as fire-fighting apparatus, infirmary items, and signaling and security systems (CCTV and access control).
Minister Tomé Franca highlighted the strategic importance of the project for the country and, in particular, for Alagoas. "The signing of this contract represents an important step for the Port of Maceió and for tourism in Alagoas. We are investing in the present and future of the region, generating jobs, fostering the local economy and offering a modern and welcoming gateway for visitors from all over the world. Sustainable development and the prosperity of the people of Alagoas is a commitment of President Lula," he stated.
The Port of Maceió, managed by the Maceió Port Administration (APMC) and linked to the Rio Grande do Norte Dock Company (Codern), is recognized as a "natural port" due to its privileged location between the beaches of Pajuçara and Jaraguá, facilitating the berthing of vessels.
Paradise of Waters
Alagoas, with its natural beauty and rich popular culture, has tourism potential established as a worldwide highlight. The modernization of the Maritime Passenger Terminal at the Port of Maceió is a catalyst for this segment, as it enhances the arrival experience of visitors, whether cruise tourists or travelers seeking paradisiacal beaches and local gastronomy.
With state-of-the-art infrastructure, the port not only facilitates access but also projects an image of modernity and efficiency, crucial elements to attract a growing flow of tourists and, consequently, generate more income and opportunities for the population of Alagoas.
