Passengers stranded in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, since last Saturday (28), including a group of Brazilians, have begun returning home on chartered and regular flights. The information comes from MSC Cruises, owner of the cruise ship MSC Euribia, on which the passengers were traveling.
"MSC Cruises organized flights for more than 1,500 guests who were aboard the MSC Euribia in Dubai so they could leave the region. To date, seven flights carrying MSC Cruises guests have already departed the region," the company said in a statement.
According to the announcement, there are flights chartered by MSC Cruises, flights with guaranteed seats in partnership with Emirates and Flydubai on regular commercial flights, as well as some flights organized by governments.
Guests are being repatriated to various destinations, including the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Spain, United States, and Brazil.
The group, which was on a cruise, was scheduled to return to Brazil on Sunday (1st), but due to attacks by the United States and Israel against Iran, airspace in several countries in the region was closed, preventing their return.
The MSC Euribia, which carries approximately 5,000 passengers, remains berthed at a local port "until further notice" under orders from regional and international security authorities. "The situation on board is calm, and our guests and crew are comfortable and well cared for," says MSC.
Due to the conflict, the company canceled the next MSC Euribia cruise departing Dubai on March 7; Doha, Qatar, on March 8; and Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on March 11.
