The Suape Industrial Port Complex handled 11,268,644 tonnes of cargo between January and May 2026, a result 26.9% higher than recorded in the same period in 2025. Based on figures achieved through May 31, the Pernambuco port ranks as the country's fourth busiest public port, according to the National Waterway Transportation Agency (ANTAQ) ranking.

The result consolidates the growth trajectory observed since the start of 2026 and demonstrates the strengthening of operations that connect Pernambuco to Brazilian and international markets. In January, Suape achieved a 38.6% increase in cargo movement and 26.2% growth in berthing operations compared to the first month of 2025.

The highlight was liquid bulk operations, which accounted for 66.2% of all movement during the period. They showed 41.9% growth compared to the same period in 2025, totalling 7,454,345 tonnes of petroleum, derivatives and other liquid products.

Container movement remained strong. The Tecon Suape terminal recorded 275,714 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) between January and May, a volume similar to that recorded in the same period last year and corresponding to 25.9% of the complex's operations.

Solid bulk also grew significantly. The segment recorded a volume of 658,642 tonnes, an increase of 43.6%, with emphasis on wheat, cement, clinker and coke. General breakbulk cargo accounted for 2.1% of total movement.

The expansion of operations was also reflected in maritime flow. In the first five months of 2026, Suape received 693 vessels of different sizes and profiles, a figure 14.7% higher than recorded in the same period of 2025.

The President and Chief Executive of Suape Complex, Armando Monteiro Bisneto, pointed out that the results demonstrate the consolidation of a sustainable cycle of expansion. "The numbers confirm the strength of our industrial park, the growth in energy operations and the effects of investments that have been expanding the port's competitiveness. Suape strengthens its position as one of Brazil's leading logistics hubs, contributing to attracting investments, generating jobs and promoting economic development in Pernambuco," he said.
