The municipality of Cubatão reinforces its national prominence in the sustainability agenda by announcing, exclusively, the holding of its 1st Municipal Conference on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), scheduled for March 31.

The information was confirmed in an exclusive interview with the team of the Integration 5.0 program by the municipality's vice-mayor, who also coordinates strategic actions related to the SDGs. According to her, the event will be a historic milestone not only for the city, but for Brazil, bringing together government, civil society, and experts in an intensive program from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Cultural Center.

During the conference, concrete advances will be presented, such as the creation of the Municipal SDG Council with its own fund, an unprecedented initiative in the country. The structure will allow not only planning, but also the effective implementation of public policies aligned with the 169 targets established by the UN in the 2030 Agenda.

Another highlight will be the launch of a platform with a complete diagnostic of the municipality, allowing the population to track, in a transparent manner, the stage of Cubatão's development in each of the global targets.

The program also includes the signing of a Technical Cooperation Agreement aimed at the generation and commercialization of carbon credits, based on legislation approved in 2024. The measure opens the way for the municipality to raise resources and expand investments in sustainability.

Internationally recognized for its environmental recovery, Cubatão now takes a new step by structuring a robust and innovative public policy, consolidating itself as a national reference in the implementation of the SDGs and showing that planning, governance, and social engagement are fundamental for sustainable development.
