The 1st edition of the event takes place this Thursday (24th) at Instituto Caldeira in Porto Alegre, during Caldeira Week, and brings together representatives from the public, private, port, inland waterway and infrastructure sectors.
Porto Alegre hosts this Thursday (24th) the first edition of LIDERANÇA LOGÍSTICA RS, a gathering that brings together important leaders in infrastructure, logistics, ports and inland waterways to discuss the necessary paths for the development of Rio Grande do Sul. The event takes place at Instituto Caldeira as part of the 2026 Caldeira Week programming and is organized by Instituto PORTa.
At a particularly important moment for the State, marked by reconstruction challenges and the need to increase the competitiveness of Rio Grande do Sul's economy, the meeting proposes a discussion on infrastructure not only as a driver of economic growth, but as an instrument for regional development and improvement of the population's quality of life.
Among the confirmed speakers are Otto Burlier, National Secretary of Inland Waterways, Alex Avila, National Secretary of Ports, Paulo Bertinetti, President of Tecon Rio Grande, Maria Chame, President of PIANC Brasil, and Hildelene Bahia, Captain of Transpetro, along with other leaders working directly in the transformation of Brazilian logistics and port infrastructure.
The program will be structured in two major debate sessions. The first panel, "The infrastructure that Rio Grande do Sul needs," will discuss the bottlenecks and opportunities for the State to advance in logistics, port, inland waterway and transportation infrastructure.
Next, the panel "The choices that will define RS's future" will debate the strategic decisions that need to be made to increase the State's competitiveness, integrate different transport modes and strengthen its position as an important logistics platform in Southern Brazil.
For Patrícia Lia Brentano, executive director of Instituto PORTa, holding the meeting represents a moment of unity among the different actors who need to participate in building a long-term agenda for the State.

"Rio Grande do Sul is going through a moment that requires unity, vision for the future, and the ability to turn challenges into opportunities. Infrastructure is not just an economic matter: it directly impacts people's lives, job creation, business competitiveness, and the capacity for development of our cities and communities. We need to bring together those who know the sector, those who make decisions, and those who have the ability to turn projects into reality."
The event also reinforces one of the main fronts of work of Instituto PORTa, which has been expanding its activities beyond people training and professional networking, seeking to contribute to a strategic agenda for the development of the Brazilian logistics and port sector.
The choice of Instituto Caldeira to host the first edition of LIDERANÇA LOGÍSTICA RS reinforces this proposal to connect infrastructure, innovation, people and development, bringing different sectors together around a common agenda for the State's future.
The expectation is that the meeting will help bring together government, companies, institutions, academia and civil society, and stimulate a more integrated discussion about the investments and decisions necessary for the future of Rio Grande do Sul's infrastructure.
