The Ministry of Ports and Airports has launched the final phase of the bidding process for the modernization of the Small-Scale Port Installation (IP4) in Parintins, reinforcing the investment plan for logistics infrastructure in the country's North region.
With the opening of proposals held last Wednesday (October 1st), the project enters its decisive stage, which will determine the company responsible for the works. The planned investment is R$ 51.3 million, earmarked for structural recovery, expansion of floating piers and other operational improvements at the terminal.
According to the ministry, the model adopted will be integrated contracting, in which the winning company will be responsible for both the preparation of basic and executive designs and the execution of works. The strategy aims to ensure greater agility and efficiency in project delivery.
The modernization of Parintins' IP4 is considered essential for the region, which depends heavily on waterway transport for supply and mobility. With the planned interventions, the terminal should operate with greater regularity, regardless of fluctuations in river levels, a historical challenge for Amazonian logistics.
The initiative is part of a broader investment package totaling R$ 572.6 million aimed at modernizing 54 port installations in the North region. The objective is to strengthen logistics infrastructure, improve mobility and boost local economic development.
According to Minister Tomé Franca, the work will have a direct impact on the efficiency of operations and the quality of services provided to the population. "The modernization of Parintins' IP4 will ensure greater efficiency, mobility and drive the local economy," he said.
With the progress of the bidding process, the expectation is that works will begin after the completion of technical and contractual stages, consolidating another strategic investment for Brazilian river logistics.
