The Port Authority of Rotterdam has announced the transfer of the Routescanner digital platform to Royal Dirkzwager, a specialist in maritime information and digital solutions for the port sector. The decision is part of the Dutch port authority's innovation strategy and aims to drive international growth of the tool within an environment specialized in technology and data analytics.

Created in 2017, the Routescanner platform was developed to increase transparency and efficiency in container transport. The tool offers users a comprehensive view of multimodal transport options, allowing them to compare routes, logistics operators, transit times, operational costs, and carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions, contributing to more sustainable decision-making in the supply chain.

According to the Port Authority of Rotterdam, the transfer represents a natural step in the project's evolution. The aim is to enable the platform to reach new markets and expand its development capacity through Royal Dirkzwager's technological expertise, recognized for its solutions focused on maritime information management.

The integration between Routescanner and the Ship2Port platform is identified as one of the main opportunities of the operation. While Ship2Port provides real-time information on vessel movements, port calls, and terminal operational planning, Routescanner complements the process with data related to land transport and logistics optimization.

Combined, the two platforms are expected to provide a complete view of the supply chain, from vessel arrival at port through cargo transport to its final destination inland. The expectation is for significant gains in operational predictability, logistics efficiency, and reduction of environmental impacts.

According to the Chief Financial Officer of the Port Authority of Rotterdam, Vivienne de Leeuw, the platform plays a relevant role in promoting transparency and logistics sustainability.

"We are confident that Routescanner is in good hands at Royal Dirkzwager for its future development", stated the executive.

Royal Dirkzwager's CEO, Joan Blaas, highlighted the potential of the technological integration.

"From coast to interior, we can forecast, plan, and optimize more effectively", he emphasized.

Despite the change in management, the platform's operations will continue to be based in Rotterdam. Part of the current team will be incorporated into Royal Dirkzwager, ensuring continuity of services and development of new features aimed at the global logistics and transport market.

The initiative reinforces the position of the Port of Rotterdam as one of the world's leading references in port innovation, digitalization, and sustainability—areas that are increasingly strategic for the competitiveness of international trade.
