The creation of Santos Port's first University was announced this week by the president of Santos Port Authority (APS), Anderson Pomini, during Intermodal South America 2026, in São Paulo.
The project, considered a milestone for the sector, is launched with the aim of strengthening academic and technical training for professionals working in logistics, foreign trade and port operations.
Alongside the Minister of Ports and Airports, Tomé Franca, Pomini highlighted that the initiative provides for undergraduate and graduate courses, connecting the practice of Latin America's largest port with specialized university education.
The proposal comes at a strategic moment for Santos Port, which is experiencing a new expansion cycle, with investments in infrastructure, capacity expansion and modernization of terminals.
The university is expected to act as a talent development hub, preparing workforce for challenges such as automation, decarbonization, logistics management and innovation in the maritime sector.
For industry experts, the announcement represents an important step forward in bringing together the academic environment and the real demands of the port market, creating opportunities for students, professionals and companies operating across the entire logistics chain.
The expectation is that further details on curriculum, institutional partnerships and implementation timeline will be disclosed in the coming months.
