Minister of Ports and Airports Tomé Franca attended, this Friday (22), the inauguration of the Innovation Hub Warehouse 7, at Santos Port. Located near the Historic Center of the coastal city, the 1,822 square-meter space will be renovated to house technological development initiatives, startups, auditorium, laboratory, among other activities, while preserving the original visual characteristics of the old port warehouse.

According to the minister, the space represents an advance in the development of projects that improve the logistics structure of the complex. "Santos Port is a reference in Brazil. When we talk about ports, we talk about cargo handling, but we cannot talk about that without discussing the training of people, technical quality. And it is not possible to talk about that without technology and innovation. Today, Santos Port Authority offers the sector an innovation hub to think about Santos' future. Here, where everything began, we will have the memory of the Port, thinking about where we want to go," he highlighted.

Technology and interactive experiences

The Innovation Hub will feature interactive resources, immersive experiences in the port universe, augmented reality and virtual visits to explore the port. The space will also have a mini convention center, coworking areas, and environments dedicated to partner institutions such as universities, NGOs and observatories specializing in sustainability, meteorology and oceanography.

Another novelty will be the creation of a support point for onboard visits through the Port channel, with organized safe access for visitors.

"What we seek is a port of the future, and the inauguration represents a step in that direction. The works address specific demands, but technology complements what infrastructure alone cannot deliver. The idea is that all the best technologies that bring efficiency are shared here. It is a step that could be replicated at all ports," highlighted Anderson Pomini, president and chief executive of Santos Port Authority (APS).

Management of Warehouse 7 will be overseen by Mackenzie University, which signed a R$ 7.5 million contract with APS. The institution will be responsible for designing and integrating the entire Santos port complex into the project, as well as formulating the schedule.
