The Porto Excellence Center Foundation (Cenep) signed a technical cooperation agreement with the City Hall of São Vicente to offer professional qualification courses aimed at the logistics and port sectors. The agreement was signed last Thursday (9), at the City Hall.
The initiative is part of the Cenep Foundation's Port-Cities Connection Project, which will be responsible for planning, organizing and delivering classes entirely free of charge to students, providing qualified instructors. Cenep's actions will be funded by the Santos Port Authority (APS).
Among the course options offered are:
- Immersion in the Port Ecosystem
- Small Forklift Operator
- Container Inspector
- Work at Height (NR35)
- Introduction to Port Management
The qualification is primarily directed at residents in situations of social vulnerability, professionals seeking reemployment, and young people entering the job market.
City Hall also intends to direct students directly to open positions in the port sector, creating a faster cycle between qualification and hiring.
The president of APS, Anderson Pomini, commented on the importance of the initiative. "The Port-Cities Connection Project was created to transform latent potential into concrete opportunity. We need to expand initiatives that foster social development across the entire Baixada Santista region," he stated.
Among the responsibilities of São Vicente's Department of Employment, Work and Income (Setre) are the dissemination of training programs, conducting the selection process for candidates, and ensuring spaces and infrastructure for classes to take place. The partnership will operate as a pilot project with a six-month term.
The mayor of São Vicente, Kayo Amado, highlighted the relevance of the measure for local development. "The city needed to attract quality training, especially in the mainland area. The Port brings many impacts, but we need to balance the scale of impacts with more positive externalities," he stated.
