ANTAQ (National Waterway Transport Agency) upheld the bidding process conducted by Santos Port Authority (APS) for the implementation of a logistics condominium

In a unanimous decision, ANTAQ's board rejected on Thursday (13th) a request from Abratec (Brazilian Association of Container Terminals) to annul the bidding process held last year by APS. Abratec's allegation was that the area could not be used for the purpose proposed in the bidding.

According to APS, the area was bid out to house a truck yard to serve the container port terminals operating in the Saboó region. The authority states that without this condominium, trucks end up circulating or parking on city streets, causing various disturbances to the population.

The rapporteur on the matter at the agency, director Alber Vasconcelos, followed the opinion of the agency's superintendence, which fully rejected the allegations of violation of the bidding rules and dismissed the thesis of nullity of the bidding procedure.

ANTAQ determined that APS will have to update the PDZ (Port Zoning and Development Plan) to characterize the area for this purpose, but that this act does not invalidate the bidding of the area and can be done later, according to precedent.
