SANTOS (SP) – The importance of Cubatão to the operation of the Santos Port logistics chain was the main topic addressed by Fabrício Lopes during ENIP 2026.
The municipal representative highlighted that the city holds a strategic position in cargo handling, concentrating important road accesses, industrial areas and back-of-port areas that support operations at Brazil's largest port.
According to Lopes, the growth of port activities requires integrated solutions that involve not only Santos, but the entire Baixada Santista metropolitan region.
Among the challenges pointed out are the expansion of road capacity, the creation of new regulated truck parking areas and the improvement of accesses used by cargo transport.
The representative also highlighted the historical role of the Cubatão Industrial Complex, which remains one of the country's most important industrial complexes and a fundamental link for various production chains tied to foreign trade.
Another topic discussed was the need to strengthen regional planning to avoid logistics bottlenecks and improve the quality of life for the population.
For Lopes, the development of Santos Port must be aligned with public policies that promote mobility, sustainability and economic growth across the Baixada Santista.
His participation closed the debates reinforcing a recurring message throughout ENIP 2026: the competitiveness of Santos Port increasingly depends on integration among municipalities, infrastructure and regional planning.
