The Port of Cabedelo will receive an investment package of R$ 105 million for infrastructure works. The commitment agreement was signed between the Union, through the Ministry of Ports and Airports, the Companhia Docas da Paraíba (Docas-PB), and the state government.
The resources will be allocated mainly to dredging the access channel and expanding the breakwater, interventions considered strategic for increasing the terminal's operational capacity. Of the total planned, R$ 64.5 million will be applied to dredging, while R$ 40.5 million will finance the breakwater extension.
The dredging includes deepening and widening the channel, as well as expanding the turning basin radius, with an estimated volume of approximately 976.5 thousand cubic meters. This will make it possible to receive larger vessels, reducing logistics costs and operational delays.
The expansion of the breakwater should increase channel stability, minimizing silting and contributing to infrastructure preservation over time. The expectation is that the works will make maneuvering safer and more efficient, reducing operational restrictions, such as berthing limitations due to tides and weather conditions.
The commitment agreement was signed during a ceremony that also marked the completion of works at the Patos Regional Airport, which received investments of R$ 40.6 million. The project included runway reconstruction, infrastructure expansion, and modernization of navigation systems.
With these new investments, the Port of Cabedelo reinforces its strategic position in northeastern Brazil, expanding its competitiveness and capacity to meet growing demand for cargo handling in the region.
