Itajaí Port received, on Tuesday (23), the ship BYD Changsha, which was transporting 7,216 vehicles from Chinese automaker BYD. The call demonstrates the growth of automotive operations and the strengthening of the port on the national stage, while also representing the largest automotive operation carried out at the terminal in 2026.

Before the ship's arrival, Itajaí Port had already handled a volume of 8,280 vehicles in roll-on/roll-off, Ro-Ro, operations this year. With the new call, the accumulated total will reach 15,496 vehicles moved in just the first half of 2026.

The operation, carried out by JBS Terminais, mobilized a broad logistics structure to ensure agility, safety and efficiency in the discharge of vehicles.

For the superintendent of Itajaí Port, Artur Antunes Pereira, receiving the ship is a milestone for the Santa Catarina port.

"This operation demonstrates the market's confidence in our infrastructure, in the terminal's efficiency and in the work being carried out to expand the capacity and competitiveness of the public port. We continue to advance, generating jobs, moving the economy and consolidating Itajaí as a strategic gateway for automotive logistics in Brazil," said Artur.

The call reinforces the consolidation of Itajaí Port as one of the main gateways for vehicle handling in Brazil, while also highlighting the process of expansion of port activities, with increased cargo movement, job creation and strengthening of the regional economy.
