Shipowners Ocean Network Express (ONE), CMA CGM and Cosco Shipping have announced a strategic reconfiguration of their joint service connecting the east coast of the United States to the west coast of South America (WCSA). The route, known as Americas XL, NEWS or FLX, will undergo significant operational adjustments at the next port calls.
The main change is the inclusion of Charleston Port, in the United States, while calls at Buenaventura Port and Pisco Port have been removed from the route.
With the new north-south configuration, the service now operates with calls at Port Everglades, Philadelphia, New York and Charleston, in the United States, as well as Cartagena Port, Guayaquil Port, Callao Port and San Antonio Port, in South America.
In the reverse direction, berthing will take place at Callao, Guayaquil and Cartagena, with return to the United States via Port Everglades, creating a leaner and more strategic network.
According to the companies, the service will continue to operate on a weekly frequency, maintaining the use of six vessels with capacity between 2,200 and 3,500 TEUs, ensuring regular cargo transport between the markets.
The reconfiguration reflects logistical adjustments in response to commercial and operational demands, as well as seeking greater efficiency in routes and cost optimization, in a global scenario still marked by instability and the need for constant adaptation in the maritime sector.
