The Ministry of Entrepreneurship recently confirmed changes in the rules for Individual Microentrepreneurs (MEIs). In an interview with Integração, the official program of the National Port Industry Meeting (ENIP), conducted by entrepreneur André Ursini, Minister Paulo Pereira, head of the ministry, detailed the measures and their practical impacts on the economy.

One of the main focuses of the conversation was the approval of the new annual revenue ceiling for the category, which rises from R$ 81 thousand to R$ 140 thousand, and the forgiveness of debts accumulated by entrepreneurs since the pandemic period. "The government forgoes revenue that would hardly come in. But by returning these MEIs to formality, the collection potential becomes much greater," the minister explained.

The new authorization for MEIs to hire a second employee was also discussed. For Ursini, the change directly alters the operational capacity of companies. "The entrepreneur becomes more productive. Furthermore, the return to formality restores to him the possibility of access to credit and banking services to operate in the market correctly," the host observed.

External market and sector integration

The treaty between Mercosur and the European Union was another point of discussion at the meeting. Ursini, author of the book "The New Frontier of Mercosur," cited the bloc of 800 million European consumers as a plausible opportunity for Brazilian producers to export items such as cheeses, footwear and handicrafts. The minister agreed with the view and recommended the creation of credit lines aimed at building capacity and protecting national production against external competition.

The agenda reflects the objective of the Integração Program to bring public management closer to the demands of the productive sector. With national reach broadcast and audience from Santos to Manaus, the program operates in alignment with Jornal Portuário and ENIP to identify logistical needs and debate economic development on an ongoing basis.

In conclusion, Pereira acknowledged the role of communication and discussion forums in fostering business in the country. For Ursini, vehicles like Integração fulfill the same cycle as those who produce: "To survive, to grow and to perpetuate, always leaving something for those who come after."
