SANTOS (SP) – Integration between Santos Port and the city was one of the central topics of Bruno Orlandi's participation at ENIP 2026.
Representing the Santos Municipal Government, the secretary highlighted that South America's largest port cannot be seen merely as a cargo-handling hub, but also as an agent of urban, economic and social transformation.
According to Orlandi, the investments currently planned for the port complex represent a historic opportunity to boost job creation, attract new businesses and promote improvements in urban infrastructure.
During his presentation, he emphasized projects that have been strengthening the connection between the city and the port, such as Valongo Park, the revitalization of the downtown area and discussions related to the future Santos-Guarujá tunnel.
The secretary also stressed the importance of professional qualification to meet the new demands of the port market. With the arrival of new technologies and the growing digitalization of logistics operations, workforce training becomes a strategic factor to ensure inclusion and competitiveness.
Another point addressed was the need for balance between economic growth and quality of life. The increase in cargo movements requires solutions for urban mobility, logistics management and mitigation of environmental impacts.
"When the port grows, the city needs to grow with it," he emphasized.
The remarks reinforced a trend observed in various international ports: the building of a more collaborative relationship between port operations and local communities.
